About me

I'm Susan Hoppert-Flämig, I am a coach with a background in peacebuilding and I work with clients through coaching, counselling and training since 2020. I have dealt with peace as an academic for a long time. I love the topic because I find it meaningful and important, and because I am fascinated to see time and again how a well led conflict does not necessarily lead to destruction but can instead create releasing change.

I have a PhD from the Department of Peace Studies of the University of Bradford (U.K.), and did extensive research on violence and public security in Central America. I have lived and worked in Germany, the U.K., El Salvador, and Honduras. As a researcher, I have worked with academics and practitioners from numerous countries, including Pakistan, South Africa, Argentina, and Northern Ireland.

At some point, I realised I was not satisfied with thinking, researching, and teaching about conflicts; instead I wanted to shape and experience transformation processes myself. Thus, I continued my education by training as a coach and conflict consultant for two years. Also, I have two children who have taught me a lot about constructive arguing. Together with my clients, I started exploring the options and the impact of coaching in the last couple of years. Today, I use not only my knowledge but my practical experience and my perception to coach changemakers. I live in Leipzig, Germany, but I like travelling and I work internationally and online.
